Asked by a State Department official why Quinn does not source from Mongolia, she testified: "the Alasan goat, which is a specific breed of cashmere goat, only thrives in Inner Mongolia and is not bred in Mongolia… That's why we don't source in Mongolia."

Who founded Quinn?
Jean Kolloff, who founded Qi Cashmere in 2003 and launched Quinn in 2012. She previously worked at Burberry and was a senior vice president at Kenneth Cole, and holds a degree from Pratt Institute.
Why does Quinn source from Inner Mongolia?
Because the Alashan breed of goat produces the finest fiber and is indigenous to that region. As founder Jean Kolloff told China Daily in 2019, the company searched for comparable goats elsewhere “but to no avail,” and decided to work only in Inner Mongolia.
Is Quinn the same brand as Quince?
No. Quinn is an independent cashmere label founded in New York in 2003 as Qi Cashmere. Quince is a separate San Francisco retailer founded in 2020. The press coverage on this page refers to Quinn.
